Leave a Legacy Behind

The greatest gift you could leave your loved ones is an organized and thoughtful legacy ready for them to remember you by. Our Will and Trust Estate Planning services can do just that. You will work closely with our legacy concierge to put together a plan you can place in your will or trust to ensure your legacy is preserved and passed down the way you want it to.

What's Included in Our Will and Trust Legacy Package

1. Legacy Consultation

Make a plan for your legacy.
Our legacy concierge will discuss with you how you would like your photos, documents and memorabilia to be handled. This can be high level where wide categories are chosen, or it can be detailed, with you identifying the most important items to preserve. We will determine how and when your collection will be given to us and all the steps we'll perform to create your lasting legacy.

2. Collection Delivery

Pack and ship, or have us do that.
Once the conditions of the will or trust are activated, our predetermined plan will take effect. Either your executor will pack and ship your collection to our office, or our trained staff will come, pack the collection, and transport it back to our office. We can have as much or as little involvement in this step as you wish.

3. Collection Assessment

We make sure everything is correct.
Once in our secure office, we will begin the process of cataloging and organizing all items according to the predetermined plan. Each item will be recorded in a master finding aid that will be given to your loved ones after the collection has been digitized. We note any items that will need conservation before we can digitize and work with trusted conservationists to protect the physical item.

4. Digitization

We provide white-glove digital preservation.
After cataloging the collection, our trained staff will carefully digitize your collection with the same type of digital capture equipment that is used by the Smithsonian. All items will be treated with the utmost care and captured in their entirety. Some items may be left out if they are not as important, which would be laid out in the initial plan. It's all up to you.

5. Rehouse in Archival Storage

We keep your collection safe into the future.
After digitization is complete, we will rehouse all items you deem worthy of keeping and destroy any that only need a digital copy. All this is decided in the planning stage. For those being kept, we put the newly organized collection into archival-grade storage materials, all clearly labeled for your loved ones to identify when using the final collection.

6. Legacy Book

We give your loved ones something more.
Using the digital files, we create a custom legacy book for your family. Using the information we collect from you in the planning stage, each book is tailored to the themes you hold dear. It can be only pictures, or you could provide stories to go along side. Either way, your loved ones will have what's important to you collected into a unique family keepsake.

7. Return Delivery

Your legacy returns to where it belongs.
We carefully return your collection to those who will hold on to your legacy. We can return it by the same method that it was delivered to us, or we can coordinate with your executor on the most convenient form of delivery. Along with the collection and legacy book, we can provide a hard drive with the digital collection for as many people as you wish, so everyone has a piece of your legacy.

Most digitization companies can’t handle fragile paper without risk of damage, but Anderson Archival’s specialized digitization equipment can capture fragile items without risking flattening it under heavy scanners. Our equipment can handle oversized and framed items as well.

Using the same high-quality digitization equipment used by the Smithsonian, Anderson Archival maintains FADGI 3-Star guidelines for color and image quality. We produce color-accurate images that show your legacy just as it is.

Other companies toss your memories through a scanner and hand back a bunch of files for you to sort. Anderson Archival knows it takes more than images to create a legacy.
