What Counts as an Item?

1 item =
  • 10 captures (bound items—photo albums, family journals, etc—loose letters, document, or photos)
  • 1 oversized (up to 43″ x 32″) or framed item
  • 1 video tape (VHS, VHS-C, Mini DV, HDV, Hi8, 8mm, Digital 8, MicroMV, Betamax) or audio cassette

A Capture Is Not a Page

It’s easy to think that ten captures means ten pages, but that’s not always the case. A capture refers to how the item is represented as a digital file. A loose document with writing on both sides would be two captures, because both the front and the back would become separate files. Photo albums can be captured by the page spread (two pages with multiple pictures in a single file), by the page (one page with multiple pictures in a single file), or by the picture (creating many captures per page depending on the number of pictures).

What Makes Us Different

At Anderson Archival, we provide premium, personalized service. Our legacy concierge manages your project with care, and our team digitizes by hand to prevent damage. We adhere to strict archival standards and expertly handle fragile and oversize items. Our consultative partner approach creates lasting keepsakes like videos, books, and digital archives. Choose us to honor and preserve your memories.

With Anderson Archival, you don’t just get digitization services, you will have a dedicated person who will act as your point of contact and guide you through the whole process. Our professionally-trained archivists work with you from the beginning of the project to the end to ensure your legacy receives the hands-on care it deserves. We learn the unique needs of your family and collection so we can deliver a digital legacy future generations will use for years to come.

Most digitization companies can’t handle fragile paper without risk of damage, but Anderson Archival’s specialized digitization equipment can capture fragile items without risking flattening it under heavy scanners. Our equipment can handle oversized and framed items as well.

Using the same high-quality digitization equipment used by the Smithsonian, Anderson Archival maintains FADGI 3-Star guidelines for color and image quality. We produce color-accurate images that show your legacy just as it is.

Other companies toss your memories through a scanner and hand back a bunch of files for you to sort. Anderson Archival knows it takes more than images to create a legacy. It’s the story of your family or company that matters, and our custom discovery and intake services before digitization, as well as our legacy storytelling and custom digital library importing after, build a thorough history for you and your family to explore.
